Balenciaga appoints Vira Capeci to lead its North American market

The new Balenciaga president of the Americas has just made a spectacular move. After spending her entire career with LVMH, first in charge of the U.S. market for Givenchy (eight years) and then for Céline (nine years), the executive is now moving to Balenciaga, which belongs to arch-rival Kering, serving in the same position effective October 1.

Capeci is replacing Luca Voarino and will report to Balenciaga CEO, Cédric Charbit. "Vira’s extensive luxury experience will support the growth and retail development of Balenciaga in the Americasm" the company said in a statement.

Balenciaga has been experiencing an all-out revolution since the arrival Vetements founder Demna Gvasalia as its creative director in early 2016. Under his tenure, the brand has made a radical design shift with a bold reinvention of its look.

This revolution has also sparked a management reshuffling, starting with a new CEO, Cédric Charbit, in October 2016 and a number of other key appointments in April.

Daphne Cousineau was named president of Europe. Laura du Rusquec was appointed Director of Strategic Projects, Caroline Bonnet-Maes took over as Human Resources Director, while Alexie de Courcel became global merchandising director for all product categories.
