Castañer and Manolo Blahnik launch capsule collection

Spain’s Castañer celebrates its 90th anniversary with a new collaboration with legendary footwear designer Manolo Blahnik. The collaboration highlights their shared “passion for craftsmanship and the aspiration to create timeless pieces,” according to Castañer.

Castañer by Manolo Blahnik will launch online on 13 November and drop in stores in December as part of the pre spring/summer 2018 collection of the brand. The capsule collection includes two different lines, Manolo by Day and Manolo by Night, which introduce three styles in six different colourways costing from 275 and 395 euros.

Commenting about the collection, Castañer said its signature flat espadrille has been reworked with an accentuated pointed front and its heel has been swapped for Blahnik’s stiletto, in two different heights to achieve a “balanced, original and simply perfect” result. Ribbon ties and jute add the finishing touches to the range.

The Manolo By Day collection features vibrant colours for a “fun and flirty” look, combining jute in its natural tone, applied on the heel, structure and sole, with linen fabrics and laces. Meanwhile the Manolo By Night line is dominated by satin in red, mink, black, sapphire and emerald.

According to the Spanish brand, “the outcome of this exceptional partnership could not better express our Mediterranean personality, our creative and stylistic richness, and our aspiration to create timeless classics which embody contemporary authenticity and luxury.”

Blahnik has personally worked with Castañer in the process of designing and developing the shoes, including the selection of materials, colours and finishes.

The collection will be available in seven Manolo Blahnik and Castañer stores, as well as in concessions in El Corte Inglés. It will also launch in France, the US, Italy, England and Japan and drop at Net-A-Porter, Harvey Nichols and Mytheresa.com.
