Chanel leaves its mark on Colette's final weeks

Published
Oct 30, 2017

The plans for the last months of Colette have been known for some time: a series of guest brands taking over the first floor of the shop until the end of December and the store's announced closure. Following Balenciaga, Sacai and Thom Browne, and before Saint Laurent steps in as the final guest, Chanel moved into the space on October 30.

The Parisian fashion house reveals a variety of different facets, showing off the diversity of its creative palette through fashion, art and culture, all in an eclectic spirit which Karl Lagerfeld holds dear. The first floor of Colette displays the designer's photos, but also, of course, the house's ready-to-wear line. A selection of the Autumn/Winter 17 collection is already available, with the arrival of the Resort 17/18 collection slated for November 6.

It's the theme of this collection, "The Modernity of Antiquity", which inspired the decoration of the space, with ancient draperies and plexiglas niches displaying the products. The collection is separated into three segments: day, evening and sport. Also on display are pieces from the Scottish cashmere brand Barrie, which has belonged to the Chanel group since 2012, as well as event exclusives, such as t-shirts featuring Karl Lagerfeld's design representing the friendship between Colette and Chanel, but also an original pair of sneakers produced through a collaboration between Chanel, Adidas Originals, Colette and the artist Pharrell Williams

The event includes music compiled, as always, by Michel Gaubert, but also beauty, an important part of the brand's heritage. Chanel's month at Colette will be enriched with a number of talks, which will be made available as podcasts, centred on themes as varied as fashion, of course, but also cinema, literature, music and dance, hosted by "friends of the house".

This temporary union between Chanel and Colette will last until November 25, when Saint Laurent will take over until the closure of the concept store, officially slated for December 20.
