Published
May 23, 2017

Chopard took to Instagram to announce its return to the the fragrance market, with plans to launch a range of scents containing sustainable ingredients.

"Today, we are delighted to introduce Chopard’s High Perfumery Collection, Avant-Première, a limited edition fragrance, a new chapter in our #thejourneytosustainableluxury," posted the brand to its Instagram account.

The Swiss-based luxury watch, jewellery and accessories company also made the announcement in Cannes at a special luncheon. Chopard is one of the film festival's main sponsors and is this year celebrating the 20th anniversary of its partnership with the event.

WWD reports that the four unisex perfumes, each with its own scent, will be based around a fair trade ingredient.  The perfumes — Néroli, Vétiver, Magnolia and Vanille — have been developed in collaboration with Firmenich and master perfumers Alberto Morillas and Nathalie Lorson.

A special edition of the Vétiver and Magnolia perfumes, dubbed "Avant-Première" and featuring a golden palm curling around the cap of the bottles, was presented at the event in Cannes.

Chopard is also the jeweller manufacturer of the distinctive Palme d'Or trophy handed out at the film awards ceremony. Here too it is increasingly flaunting its green credentials, with this year's trophy set with diamonds sourced from Responsible Jewellery Council-certified suppliers. Chopard has already been using fairmined gold in the trophy since 2014.

The Chopard sustainable line of perfumes are slated for an initial debut through Russian luxury department store Tsum on May 29, followed by a worldwide rollout to select retailers.
