Estée Lauder ramps up family-related employee benefits

Published
Apr 26, 2018

The Estée Lauder Companies, Inc. announced several changes to its employee benefits designed to support a diverse workforce, namely adding 20 weeks paid maternity leave, adoption assistance and child and elder care.

Facebook: Estée Lauder

Michael O’Hare, Executive Vice President, Global Human Resources, said in a statement: "We started as a family company more than 70 years ago, and today, we continue to demonstrate our philosophy of being family-first through an array of benefits that support the diverse needs of our employees."

He added, “We believe providing an abundance of options to our employees will help them thrive inside and outside of work.”

The company extended its paid maternity leave to twenty weeks, a valuable benefit particularly while only 3 US states offer paid parental leave to working parents. The company also added a flexible return policy, allowing new parents the option to ease back into work after taking leave for an additional six weeks.

Estée Lauder will provide adoption assistance and reimbursement to families up to $10,000 to help cover legal and administrative fees in the adoption process. The company will also offer back-up childcare in-home, as well as an Infant Transition Program, for new parents transitioning back to work full time.

Estée Lauder is also providing additional back-up adult and elder care to help employees continue working while they are also the caregivers for family members.

"It's critical [that we give] our employees the diverse benefits they need for optimal well-being at any stage of their lives,” said Sue Mosoff, Senior Vice President, Global Total Rewards.

Other benefits the company offers include financial support for infertility treatments, student loan repayment, and tuition reimbursement.

The new Estée Lauder benefits go into effect May 1, 2018.
