Fashion and Textile Museum to host Anna Sui exhibit

American fashion designer Anna Sui will be the subject of a new exhibition at London’s Fashion and Textile Museum.

Marking the first time a UK retrospective focuses on an American designer, ‘The World of Anna Sui’ will tell the story of the 52-year old artist who staged her first catwalk show in 1991.

Considered as “the classic American fashion designer”, Anna Sui is famed for her signature rock-n-roll romanticism which reinvents pop culture every season.

"Since her first catwalk show in 1991, Sui has shaped not only the garments, textiles, accessories, beauty and interiors which comprise her design universe, but also the course of fashion history," said the museum of the designer. 

The exhibition will display more than 100 looks from her archives, highlighting the enduring archetypes, from Surfers and School Girls to Hippies, Mods and Punks, that have inspired the designer throughout her career.

The World of Anna Sui will open on 26 May and run for over 4 months until 1 October 2017.
