Sanoma Media Netherlands, owner of e-tailer Fashionchick, announced today the appointment of Rob Kolkman as its new CEO.

The appointment will be effective from 1 January 2019. In his new role, Kolkman will report to Susan Duinhoven, President and CEO at Sanoma Corporation. Kolkman succeeds Marc Duijndam, who left the company in August after eight months of service.

Kolkman joins Sanoma from Reed Business Information (RBI), part of the RELX Group, a global supplier of information and data analysis. Within the RELX group Kolkman has held several senior management positions, where he currently serves as Group Managing Director for RBI. Prior to that, Kolkman was CEO at RBI in the Netherlands, where he was responsible for a large number of online data solutions and publications, including Elsevier Weekblad and Landleven.

Rob Kolkman, incoming CEO at Sanoma, said of his appointment: “Sanoma has a beautiful portfolio that reaches 80% of the Dutch monthly. The print brands have made a strong and successful development online, such as Libelle and Vtwonen. Other brands are fully online oriented, such as NU.nl and Scoupy. The continuous development of all these brands, where each brand has its own opportunities and challenges, makes Sanoma an organization that I want to work for and aim to make even more successful together with my colleagues.”

Susan Duinhoven, President & CEO of Sanoma Corporation, said: “Rob is a highly experienced and valued CEO with an impressive career in both the Netherlands and abroad. With his experience in the business data and publishing market, I see Rob as the right person to lead the experienced management team within Sanoma Media Netherlands. Together they are able to further develop our brands cross-media and to further develop our news and data organization, which also includes smaller acquisitions.”

In addition to the e-commerce website Fashionchick, Sanoma Media Netherlands operates publications such as Style Today, Nouveau, Flair and Linda.

Until 1 January 2019, Susan Duinhoven will remain the interim CEO of Sanoma Media Netherlands.
