Footwear brand Pikolinos opens first permanent US store in Miami

Spanish footwear and accessories brand Pikolinos is going places in the USA. Last Wednesday, the Elche-based footwear brand opened its first permanent physical store on US territory, at the Sawgrass shopping mall, located on the outskirts of Miami.

The store extends over more than 200 m2 with an outlet-style layout, and is the second retail presence for Pikolinos in the country. It previously operated a pop-up store in New York's Soho district, which remained open for five months in 2013.

The USA are Pikolinos' top international market, and the second-largest overall for pairs of shoes sold, behind the Spanish domestic market. Pikolinos first landed in the country 15 years ago and operates a sales office and a logistics hub in Miami, from where it services its North American distribution network.

Pikolinos currently markets its collections in approximately 400 multibrand stores in the USA, as well as selling online. From now on, the group run by the Perán Bazán family is also going to focus on building a monobrand retail presence, to boost its growth locally.

The group is present in more than 60 countries and exports around 80% of its output. Pikolinos was founded by Juan Perán in 1984 and it is currently available at 8,000 stores worldwide.
