Jordan inks kit supply deal with French Basketball Federation

Through the Jordan label, Nike has made a comeback as technical sponsor to France's national basketball teams, having already worked with them between 2001 and 2013. The French Basketball Federation (FFBB) has in fact announced its partnership with Michael Jordan's label from the 2017-18 season and until at least 2020, thus saying adieu to Adidas, its kit supplier for 2013-2017.

The Jumpman logo will feature on the kit of France's men's and women's national basketball teams

Jordan will supply the kit for France’s men's, women's and junior teams, both in the 3-a-side and 5-a-side version of the sport. The women's national team, currently vying to qualify for the 2019 European Championships, donned the new kit for the first time in a match against Finland last week-end.

Jordan was launched in 1997 by former Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, and became a fully fledged label under Nike's stewardship. The new deal will boost its visibility in France, after the opening of a first European flagship store in Paris in 2016.

"Basketball's popularity in France, both on and off the courts, is a strong draw for us" said Larry Miller, President of Jordan. "French basketball culture is a perfect fit with Jordan, a brand we wish to grown internationally even more."

Jordan has the wind in its sails: in the non-standard fiscal year closed at the end of May 2017, its sales grew 13% over the previous year, reaching $3.099 billion (€2.717 billion), making Jordan the third major business area for Nike, after sportswear and running.
