International luxury giant Kering has launched into online education with the London College of Fashion (LCF). Together, they set up the first of a series of open-access courses on sustainable development in fashion.

The online course will start on 9th April - Kering

The Kering/LCF course uses the massive open online course (MOOC) formula and is entitled 'Fashion and Sustainability: Understanding Luxury Fashion in a Changing World'. It will begin on 9th April. Co-developed by LCF and Kering's sustainability experts, the six-weeks, 18-hour course features six modules with a mix of videos, podcasts, activities and discussions. The course is designed for industry professionals, students and members of the public with an interest in fashion, and registration is already open.

"We actively work with our labels to craft tomorrow's luxury, as part of our sustainable development strategy 2025, but we also wish to contribute to the evolution of luxury fashion as a whole, by sharing our expertise with industry counterparts and educating future generations," said François-Henri Pinault, the President and CEO of Kering.

Professor Frances Corner, head of the London College of Fashion, added: "This course aims to empower aspiring and existing fashion professionals alike, and help them develop their own manifesto for change."

The course's launch was announced the day after Kering's main competitor LVMH introduced a video-based educational programme targeted to the students of 45 European universities.
