Marchesa designs one-off evening gown for clean water initiative

Stella Artois has tapped Marchesa for a charitable campaign with Water.org. For this project, Marchesa will make a one-of-a-kind dress, to be worn by Olivia Culpo at the Oscars, to help raise awareness for the charitable initiative.

The gown, to be designed by Marchesa’s haute couture studio alongside designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, will be inspired by Stella Artois’ “Buy a Lady a Drink” chalice - a limited-edition glass sold by the brewing company with profits benefiting Water.org. For every single chalice sold, Stella Artois will sponsor five years worth of drinking water to a person in a developing country. 

Harry Lewis, vice president of Stella Artois, told the press, "Marchesa is at the center of the world's most iconic red carpet moments, and to have a partner like this on one of the biggest stages of the year is humbling. It's such a simple action - for every Limited-Edition Chalice that is sold, we will help Water.org provide five years of clean water for one person in the developing world. By rallying people on the red carpet and at home across the country, we are one step closer to being the generation to end the global water crisis."

"India is one country that is greatly affected by the global water crisis, and it's also where much of our hand-beadwork is done," said Marchesa co-founder Keren Craig. "We are proud to be able to work on a project that directly benefits a community that is so close to our hearts."

Marchesa's gown will feature glass beads, in reference to the limited-edition chalice. Culpo, a fashion influencer and former Miss USA winner, will wear the dress during E!’s “Countdown to the Red Carpet show before the upcoming Oscars award.
