Marie France Van Damme to open a Wynn Plaza boutique in Las Vegas

Hong Kong-based designer Marie France Van Damme is joining the Las Vegas luxury shopping trend, opening a boutique in the city's newest shopping destination Wynn Plaza this fall.

The Marie France Van Damme boutique at Wynn Plaza will be a 900-square-foot store and will be in good company, joining luxury consumer lifestyle brands SoulCycle and Cipriani at the shopping destination. It will offer the label's resort line, which includes bathing suits and caftans, as well as its beach bridal, ready-to-wear and accessories lines.

"The West Coast has always been an important market for [the label]," Marie France Van Damme told FashionNetwork.com, adding, "I think Vegas is on par with NY, LA and London."

The decision to open at the 70,000-square-foot Wynn Plaza is also in line with the trend of an increasing number of luxury consumers descending on Vegas. Emirates has added flights to Vegas from Dubai, making the city poised to continue expanding on a global scale with a new tourist focus that goes beyond gambling and incorporates dining, entertainment and shopping.

"There is a new high-end customer and resident who has moved to Vegas permanently for business, who does not want to go through a casino to go shopping," explained Marie France Van Damme.

"In addition, many of these customers who travel around the world are expecting to have their favorite luxury brands in Las Vegas (many that may not have been available in the past) as well as an opportunity to experience an exclusive new retail experience," the Canadian-born designer added. 

The Wynn Plaza boutique will be the third US location for Marie France Van Damme joining permanent locations in LA and Miami. The label debuted on Net-a-Porter this summer and will head next to Miami to present its resort 2019 collection at Miami Swim Week next month, a show the designer has participated in for 8 years.

The Wynn Plaza Marie France Van Damme boutique is slated to open in October 2018.
