Matchesfashion.com links with Eco-Age to boost sustainability

Luxury fashion destination Matchesfashion.com has announced it is working with Eco-Age to build and develop new sustainable and ethical practices within the business and across its relationships.

With supply chain, sustainability and fashion expertise, Eco-Age is a brand consultancy specialising in bespoke sustainability solutions. It has previously helped several luxury companies develop a variety of sustainability initiatives, including the likes of M&S, Stella McCartney, Net-A-Porter, Gucci and Kering.

As part of a partnership with Matchesfashion, the brands are developing a comprehensive sustainability programme aimed at driving positive social and environmental impact. The e-tailer said the goal is placing sustainable and ethical practices at the heart of what it does.

“In our thirtieth year of business, we wanted to be sure the business was looking to the future of the industry, the second largest polluter in the planet. With our reputation for pioneering and nurturing fashion talent we are proud to continue to innovate by focusing our energies on addressing some of these issues within our own business and our broader supply chain. We hope to bring awareness to our brands, employees and customers and therefore spearhead change, however incremental, over the coming years,” said Ruth Chapman, co-founder and executive co-chairman of Matchesfashion.com.

Livia Firth, founder and creative director, Eco-Age added: "I have so much admiration for Ruth and Tom Chapman as they demonstrated leadership through Matchesfashion.com all along. The sustainability journey they have now embarked upon is not an easy task for a multi-brand retailer but the direct engagement both internally and externally of the Matchesfashion.com ethos is fundamental to the success of it. This is such a unique opportunity to make a real change."

The programme will create a framework to align Matchesfashion.com, its partners and suppliers with the objective of improving sustainability performance together.
