Moncler hosts exhibition in London to support RCA students

A collection of 400 postcard-sized artworks by renowned artists, fashion designers and cultural icons has gone on display at Moncler’s flagship store at 26 Old Bond Street in London as part of a project to fund scholarships for students of the Royal College of Art.

Moncler’s Freeze for Frieze initiative, timed to run alongside the Frieze art fair, offers art collectors a chance to acquire works by artists such as John Baldessari, Christian Marclay, Lawrence Weiner, as well as pieces from former RCA designers from Holly Fulton to Gavin Turk.

All proceeds of the sale will be donated to fund two RCA scholarships for MA Fashion and Textiles students.

For the exhibition, guest curated by renowned fashion journalist Tim Blanks, Moncler asked friends of the label and other celebrated artists to donate a piece of their artwork in postcard format. The identities of the artists behind every work will be revealed to buyers via a post-purchase reveal card.

The initiative mirrors the annual anonymous RCA Secret postcard sale, which has been running for 22 years.

“The thinking behind ‘Freeze for Frieze’ is that, just as art can represent life and artists can immortalise moments in their creations, Moncler wishes to ‘freeze’ the moments depicted on the postcards thereby making them immortal,” said Tim Blanks to RCA.

"I'm very passionate about the world of art, especially how meaningful it is as a language, a means of communication, encompassing one's personal views and abilities. Creativity has always been a key word for Moncler. Working towards this common goal alongside a high profile institution like the Royal College of Art is a great honour for me”, added Remo Ruffini, Chairman and CEO of Moncler.

Freeze for Frieze will be held between Friday 7 and Sunday 9 October at Moncler’s flagship store in London. A special selection of artworks will be also available exclusively on Moncler’s website for international purchase.
