Nike celebrates the Chinese New Year

Published
Jan 13, 2012

The Air Force 1 Low Supreme, Air Jordan 2012, Kobe VII System Supreme and Zoom Kd IV – these are the four models of shoes chosen by Nike to celebrate the Chinese new year. While the US readies for another round of inexorable Christmas albums from its musical stars, the American brand, for the eleventh year in a row, prepares to put its signature on several new pairs of sneakers in time for the Asian celebration.

And as January 23rd marks the start of the Year of the Dragon for Chinese people the world over, Nike has taken inspiration from the mythical creature for this collection. The design of the Destroyer Jacket will in fact be reminiscent of the Dragon Robe.

On the occasion of its last quarter, ended Nov 30, Nike recorded 650 million dollars in sales on the "Greater China" market. An increase of 35% after exchange rate over the same period a year earlier.
