Following operations to restore the location after severe damage caused by Hurricane Maria, Nordstrom, Inc. announced it plans to reopen its Mall of San Juan store in Puerto Rico.

The two-story, 138,000-square-foot store will have its official re-opening on November 9 of this year.

The San Juan store includes three shoe departments, cosmetics and accessories departments, as well as apparel for women, men and children. It also offers three restaurant concepts: the Ebar coffee shop and cafe, the Habitant wine and cocktail bar, and Bazille, a full-service American and Caribbean restaurant.

The company plans to hire 90 local employees across departments at the San Juan store, in addition to hiring new staff in various behind-the-scenes support positions, and in the store's dining areas.

The company also named Yazmin Rivera as the store's new manager. Rivera has been working for the San Juan store since its opening in 2015, and has served as interim store manager since November 2017. Prior to her work with the company, Rivera served in a variety of retail roles across San Juan.

In the wake of Hurricane Maria, as well as hurricanes Harvey and Irma, several retailers reported decreased sales as areas like Puerto Rico, Dominica and southern coastal states struggled with immense damage and loss of life. Following Hurricane Maria, the San Juan store was forced to close and offer employees a separation package.

Nordstrom reported that these natural disasters cost the retailer an estimated $20 million in sales.
