Skiing: Rossignol links up for connected tech sensor

Sporting equipment brand Rossignol is teaming up with sports technology company PIQ to produce a performance-tracking ski accessory.

The 13-axis ski sensor can provide a detailed run-by-run analysis, recording data on speeds, air time, G-forces and carving angles.

A Bluetooth connection allows it to push data out to Android and iOS devices, offering integrating into PIQ and Rossingol apps.

The $149 Rossignol and PIQ ski sensor is to be made available via the PIQ website to pre-ordering customers from February 2016, in advance of a general retail release.

PIQ had previously released versions of its tracker technology for use in golf and tennis; a $49 ski band is designed to accommodate those multisport sensors.
