Top Drawer launches children's section

Published
May 18, 2018

This September will see the launch of a new section dedicated to all things children at London fashion and design trade show Top Drawer.

Some of the brands already confirmed for the new area include The Little Taylor, Billy Loves Audrey and Donsje - Photo: Donsje Amsterdam

Titled ‘Play’, the area will curate the best of all categories, from clothing and accessories to children’s toys and home decor, in response to changes in the way stockists are organising their offering.

With a fresh new look, Play will feature ideas to help retailers tune in to the latest trends in retailing. “We’re so excited to present this new concept, Play. It really builds on our strengths, providing a dynamic focal point where an expert mix of the best brands in the sector will meet the best mix of retailers,” says Alejandra Campos, event director.

“Buyers love Top Drawer precisely because of the variety of design-led products it presents across a range of complementary categories: one destination, multiple buying opportunities. And Play will showcase the UK’s largest collection of design-led kids’ toys, gifts, clothing, home decoration and accessories.”

The announcement follows news that childrenswear trade show Bubble London is closing its doors after more than ten years. The next edition of show, scheduled to be held on 15-16 July, has been cancelled due to structural changes in the childrenswear industry.

Top Drawer said 17% of the UK’s population are children, and this percentage is projected to grow over the next decade, providing immediate opportunity for UK retailers to capitalise on the moment. The UK’s toy market alone is worth £3.4 billion, making it the largest in Europe, and fourth in the world.

Some of the brands already confirmed for the new Play area at Top Drawer include  Areaware, Londji, Egmont Toys, Fiona Walker England, The Little Taylor, Billy Loves Audrey, Donsje, Home by Door, aden + anais, Lara & Ollie, Wee Gallery, Bertoy and Selfie Clothing.
