Bonhill Group, owner of 180 secondhand jewellery stores in the US, has begun its European expansion with the opening of an office in Barcelona, where it will lead its jewellery buying and shipping operations.
Bonhill Vice President José Alvira told Europa Press that the company has selected Spain for its “deeply rooted jewellery traditions” and that the launch involved 3 million euros.
The New-York based company dedicated to buying back jewellery, watches and gemstones said it plans to prioritize the brand’s expansion into Spain, and that it will be looking to enter new markets including Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Greece, Portugal and the UK by 2020.
However, the US will remain the company’s main market and all items purchased in Europe will be shipped to America to be sold.
The Vice President also said that Bonhill has signed agreements with some 30 jewellers from several cities of Spain to improve its reach.
