Kering has confirmed the arrival of Valérie Duport with a press release. As FashionMag reported in January, the luxury goods giant, notably the owner of Gucci and Saint Laurent, has poached Chanel's former director of press services and public relations, in order to put her in charge of the entire group's communications and image.

Valérie Duport will succeed Louise Beveridge, Kering's former director of communications, who left the group at the end of September 2015. Her position has been vacant until now - Kering

"Working with François-Henri Pinault, Kering's chairman and CEO, and as a member of the group's executive committee, her mission will be to devise and implement Kering's communication strategy, and to promote the group's image in the luxury goods world," the company stated.

From the month of October, Valérie Duport's responsibilities will increase, since "she will also be in charge of supervising the Kering brands' communication strategies, and of supporting them in their implementation."

The French executive, 47, holds a DEA degree in contemporary history from the Paris-Sorbonne University. She began her career in the luxury sector in 1988 at Chanel in Paris, in Press Services for the Fragrance & Cosmetics division. In 1994, she joined Press Services for the house's Watches and Jewellery division, and in 2008, she was appointed International Director of Press Services and External Relations at Chanel.
