Wu Tang Clan's Wu Wear relaunches after 10 years with unisex holiday collection

Published
Dec 7, 2017

Wu Tang Clan's apparel line Wu Wear, originally launched in 1995, has relaunched in a partnership with Live Nation's merchandise division and will be marketed to millennials and Gen Z as second generation fans.

Rihanna models pieces from the relaunch collection on her instagram account - Instagram @badgirlriri

The new Wu Wear launches this week with a unisex collection that includes tees, fleeces and jackets. Fans will recognize the iconic (and now retro)  Wu Tang Clan "W" logo. The line is targeting a younger generation of fans who likely heard the group's music from their parents and older relatives.

According to Robert Diggs (aka founding Wu Tang member RZA), the new line represents "the original aesthetic and the same purpose as classic Wu Wear."

RZA, who identifies himself as the group's "historic creative consultant," said the new collection is updated with modern "silhouettes and design to reflect current fashion sensibility."

Celebrities have been posting pictures of themselves wearing the new Wu Wear. On November 26, Rihanna posted an image wearing a crew neck sweater from the collection and captioned it "for.eva," a nod to the group's 1997 album title Wu Tang is Forever.

Wu Wear relaunches in time for the 25th anniversary of Wu Tang Clan's debut album, 36 Chambers. The collection will be sold online through Wu Wear's website as well as at Gen Z retailers. The holiday relaunch collection retails from $25 to $75.

RZA said plans exist to continue the line through collaborations and individual capsules focusing on the group's history. He also stated that they are looking forward to their upcoming work on Wu Wear with original member Ghostface Killah.
