Fashion is Art. Art is Fashion.

The line becomes the principal focus in this report showcasing artists, illustrators and designers celebrating the power of a single continuous stroke and putting it at centre stage of their design vision.

Woman Standing by Frederic Forest / Linder SS17

Designers, makers and artists such as Frederic Forest, Linder and Lane Walkup examine the body and the tension between positive and negative space. Looking at the unfinished and unseen, emptiness and the outlines of what could be.

Max.Tan SS17 / I, Calypso by Jeff Elrod

In terms of fashion garments, the line is explored through inventive ways of placing contrast bindings, plackets and welt pockets, tapping into the geometric quality of a contrast line. There is a minimal black and white quality to the works, following in Picasso and Cocteau's footsteps.

See the image gallery in our full report (link below) to discover how jewelry designers and makeup artists are channeling this compelling direction powerful in its simplicity, yet showing the tension between control and a free flowing hand drawn line.
