"Everyday, everywear" menswear start-up Swet Tailor lands $1.5 million in funding

Published
Nov 29, 2018

Menswear brand Swet Tailor has closed on a first round of seed funding worth $1.5 million. In a press release, the brand said it will use these new funds "to further expand the company's marketing and brand awareness."

"This funding will be able to help us continue to flesh out our vision for a new space for men's apparel," saidco-founderAdam Bolden. - Via Swet Tailor

The round included investors from the fashion, sports and media spheres, including Burch Creative Capital, NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, Doctor Katie Rodan – the co-founder of skincare companies Rodan + Fields and Proactiv Solution –, and Rodan + Fields Chairman Amnon Rodan.

The brand, which focuses on creating menswear with fabrics that are both aesthetically clean and comfortable enough to accommodate everyday movement, currently offers a range of shorts, pants, shirts, sweatshirts, tees, joggers and a hat. With its new financial resources, the brand plans to expand its distribution, generate strategic marketing opportunities to gain new customers, expand its team of personnel, and broaden its product categories to include specialty sizing.

"This funding will be able to help us continue to flesh out our vision for a new space for men's apparel," said co-founder Adam Bolden in the brand's press release.

While the world of womenswear has been relatively swift to embrace a consumer push for style and comfort – especially in categories known for their difficult wearability, like pants, shoes and underwear – similar men's options outside of athleisure are limited. As the brand moves forward, Swet Tailor aims to boost its image as a profoundly versatile choice within the menswear market.

"The move towards greater and greater comfort is one of the most important trends in the fashion industry today and it is not going away anytime soon," said Christopher Burch, founder and CEO of Burch Creative Capital. "Swet Tailor's ability to make high quality basics from their proprietary fabric that look and drape like traditional cottons, twills, and wools while performing at the highest technical level is truly differentiated."

This new round of funding follows the brand's recent e-commerce site relaunch.

Based in Los Angeles, Swet Tailor was launched in 2015 by co-owners Bolden and David Kranz, with a focus on creating men's jeans that could supply sweatpant-esque comfort. Swet Tailor's line of products range from $44 to $199.
