Alexa Chung returns to Superga for Spring 2018

Alexa Chung has reunited with Superga on a new collection, seven years after she first collaborated with the brand.

The British model, designer and TV presenter has joined forces with the Italian footwear brand on an eight-piece Spring/Summer 2018 shoe collection that sees her reinterpret the label's classic silhouettes of the 2750, mid-cut and mule. Introducing new textures and colors, mixing up satin, cotton, terry and varnished fabrics with a feminine color scheme of off white, burgundy and sky blue, the series boasts a classy aesthetic with a modern edge.

"My mother wore Superga's when I was growing up so for me they've always been a classic shoe and something I have incorporated into my daily wardrobe for years now," said Chung in a statement. "It has been wonderful to return to this brand as a designer working on a collaboration for this season because in the past Superga were one of the first companies to let me art direct a campaign for them. It feels a lot like coming home."

Chung and Superga first got together in 2011, when the British celebrity was unveiled as the brand's ambassador. Since then, she has made strides in the fashion industry, starring in campaigns for Longchamp and AG Jeans, and collaborating with British high street staple Marks & Spencer on a series of reworked classic fashion pieces. In 2017, she launched her own eponymous fashion brand, focusing on contemporary footwear, jewelry and ready-to-wear pieces that emulate her aloof, It-girl style.
