Burlington Arcade adds Louboutin, Harrods and more to store line-up

Published
Oct 15, 2019

In its 200th year, the world’s oldest shopping destination is adding a raft of new brands in time for the Christmas season with London’s luxury Burlington Arcade announcing the arrival of Christian Louboutin, Harrods, Mou London, Baudoin & Lange and Annoushka.

Baudoin & Lange and Christian Louboutin are among the new upscale shoe brands at Burlington Arcade

The new boutiques add a mix of footwear, jewellery and accessory brands to the Mayfair location with the arcade’s owners hailing their “personal shopping experience in a luxurious setting and unique designs,” some of which have been created especially for the arcade’s big anniversary.

Footwear and accessories are key product categories for the arcade and Christian Louboutin has debuted at no 68-69 with the offer including a new bag exclusive to the location, inspired by his goddaughter Elisa Sedanoui. It nods to her Egyptian and Italian heritage with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and cartouches inspired the gold closure and CL signature logo, the bag also being made in Italy.

Attracting labels with a global profile such as Louboutin is key for helping to drive footfall at the shopping and tourist destination and given that luxury shoe label Manolo Blahnik also has a boutique there, the new Louboutin store certainly adds to the arcade’s appeal for shoe and bag shoppers.

And the shoe offer should also be boosted by the addition of Baudoin & Lange, which opened its first central London store last week at no 54-55. The East London-based brand specialises in men’s and women’s loafers and the new location celebrates its craftsmanship. The collections are on show on the ground floor with the first floor featuring rare statement pieces as well as art and furnishings, all designed to highlight the work of artisans.

Another new shoe name at Burlington Arcade is at no 23 with Mou London adding its soft, hand-crafted boots. Inspired by the wilds of nature, it mixes traditional hand-making techniques with “urban styling”.

Meanwhile, fine jewellery is also a key part of the arcade’s offer and new to the location in this category is Annoushka at number 10. The brand is a red carpet favourite.

Another big name opening with a history almost as long as Burlington is Harrods, which opened its Kingdom of Christmas pop-up at no 6 on Monday. The store features its famous Christmas hampers as well as a range of Harrods decorations and gifts, plus the company’s 2019 Christmas teddy bear. There’s no fashion product from the retailer but again, the presence of a key name like this should be a guaranteed footfall-driver.

Jamie Reuben of Burlington Arcade, said that “one of the focal points of our strategy, and to incorporate the 200th anniversary, is to create an engaging retail experience. The new brands diversify our luxury footwear, accessories and jewellery offer, welcoming a new demographic into Burlington Arcade”.

Other labels already at the location include Atkinsons 1799, Church's, Frédéric Malle, Ladurée, Kwanpen, Lalique, N Peal, Roja Parfums, Strathberry and Vilebrequin.
