Condé Nast promotes Joseph Libonati to chief communications officer

As Cameron Blanchard steps down from the role after three years, Vogue and Vanity Fair owner Condé Nast has announced the appointment of Joseph Libonati as the company’s chief communications officer.

In his new role, Libonati will be in charge of developing and executing all of the media conglomerate’s internal and external communication strategies.

He has been promoted to the position from his previous role as senior vice president of corporate communications, having joined Condé Nast in 2013. Prior to this, Libonati served as senior VP at Rubenstein Communications, working with media clients including Paramount Pictures, USA Network, Zynga and Viacom.

Before joining Rubenstein, he worked at Principal Communications Group’s New York team, where he managed clients such as Google, YouTube and Machinima.

Libonati’s other previous experience includes media-related roles at NBCUniversal, PMK and ID/PR.

“As Condé Nast continues to transform into a full-fledged media company, strategic communication is vital to every aspect of our organization,” said Condé Nast President and CEO Bob Sauerberg in a release. “Joe is a big part of how we are communicating that to our advertising partners, the creative community and our audiences.”

Libonati’s appointment is the latest in a string of management shakeups at the media giant and comes just over a month after the company’s chief digital officer Fred Santarpia stepped away from his role and Lindsay Peoples-Wagner was named editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue.
