Converse teams up with Fragment Design to reimagine The Converse Weapon

Converse is bringing back The Converse Weapon via a new collaboration with Fragment Design and its founder Hiroshi Fujiwara.

As part of the collaboration, Fujiwara has lent his label’s signature design cues to the original form of the Weapon. In true Fragment fashion, the Weapon was reinvented with a minimalist approach that highlights the classic, sporty royal blue and black color scheme.

Likewise, the Fragment logo design is embossed on the lateral heel, while the braided leather tongue features an original Converse Weapon label and a terry cloth lining. Completing the collaboration is a complementary clothing capsule featuring a wool varsity jacket, a french terry hoodie and two loose fit jersey T-shirts.

The Converse Weapon was first seen in 1986, on a basketball court. Since then, a community has formed around this pair, although this model was only available for two years.

“I was looking for a pair to collaborate on with Converse, I immediately thought the Weapon would be the right one for me. This is a classic pair that I used to wear in my childhood,” said Fujiwara, in a news statement.

“I thought about trying different color blocks, but ultimately settled on the current design to pay homage to this iconic model.”

The Converse x FRGMT Weapon will be available in limited edition on Converse.com and at select retailers as of May 11.
