Fashion industry heads to Javits Center for New York City men's market

Published
Jul 17, 2017

The New York City men’s market began on Sunday, July 16, with UBM’s Project show at Jacob Javits Center.

This market week is very unique for it marks the rare occasion that Project, Capsule and Liberty Fairs share the same venue. With Project running from July 16 to 18 and Capsule and Liberty’s partnered show running from July 17 to 19, the three shows will run concurrently on two days.

Project and MRket this men's market season will share its usual venue, Jacob Javits Center, with Capsule and Liberty Fairs - UBM Fashion

Project is joined by MRket once again, and will be comprised by Pivot, the section devoted to fashion brands crafted with tech-based solutions, the advanced contemporary section The Tents, and Project Sole for contemporary footwear. MRket is focused on sportswear with the Vanguard Gallery for emerging designers, Move for performance-based activewear, sportswear section Modern Prep, and international sections Made in Italy and Brits in New York.

Capsule and Liberty Fairs continue their partnership and are bringing back their respective activations such as Above Tree Line and The General Store. This season, the shows partnered with the CFDA and Frenzy to hold special fashion presentations on July 17 and 18. Brands Ddugoff, Osklen and Daniel Patrick will show on the 17 with High Snobiety’s Under the Radar brands Preston Douglas, Openism, Secluded, and Sundae School, and Haversack, Arc’teryx Veilance, Band of Outsiders and Necessity Sense will show on the 18.

In addition, Liberty Fairs will feature a special exhibit from Sennheiser named ‘Citizens of Sound’ that will allow attendees to experience their favorite song through a pair of Sennheiser HD1 or HD800 headphones for the first time. The studio portrait exhibit, produced by The Brooklyn Circus with film photographers Rog & Bee Walker + Aeric Meredith-Goujon, is designed to capture the emotions of today’s music loving culture.

The New York City men’s market is sure to be a much simpler experience for show attendees for its central location. The change will be short lived, however, because Capsule and Liberty plan to move back to Pier 94 for its next winter show.
