Iris van Herpen to present her first art exhibit in the US

Published
Apr 24, 2015

In fall 2015, the High Museum of Art will become the first U.S. museum to present a major exhibition of work by visionary Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen, the artist inspired by diverse influences in the arts, sciences, music and philosophy.

Marking the High's first presentation of fashion design, Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion will feature one-of-a-kind haute couture – acclaimed for its combination of traditional craftsmanship and futuristic, innovative techniques – and include some of the world's first examples of 3D-printed fashion.

The exhibition is co-organized with the Groninger Museum (Netherlands) and will debut at the High, running from November 7th, 2015 to May 15th, 2016, before continuing on a North American tour.

Before launching her label in 2007, van Herpen studied Fashion Design at Artez Institute of the Arts Arnhem and interned at Alexander McQueen. She has won countless awards in a span of five years including the Dutch Design Award in fashion, the Marie Claire Prix de la mode, best Dutch Designer and the Golden Eye Award in 2013, the ANDAM Fashion Award in 2014, and had her 3D printed dress hailed by TIME Magazine as one of the 50 Best Inventions of 2011.

Iris van Herpen has garnered international acclaim for her groundbreaking, forward-thinking, innovative designs that have been worn by artists such as Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Bjork.
