La Redoute has a new leader spearheading its overseas expansion. The French e-tailer owned by the Galeries Lafayette group has hired its new international CEO Emmanuelle Cartier, who was previously at Sephora. Cartier assumed her new position in January, as she announced on LinkedIn.

Cartier has built her professional career in the fashion and cosmetics sectors. She started at Chantelle in the 1990s as group marketing manager, before becoming head of marketing, communication, CRM and e-commerce at Petit Bateau, from 2000 to 2010. She then worked at Celio for three years, and joined Sephora in 2013, working for four years as head of marketing and products.

In 2017, Cartier joined the LVMH group, as head of international retail and sell-out for Parfums Givenchy, before managing Givenchy and Kenzo Parfums for two years. She then re-joined Sephora in 2020, as managing director for products and marketing in Europe and the Middle East.

La Redoute has been led since 2022 by Philippe Berlan, following Nathalie Balla and Eric Courteille’s departure, and after Galeries Lafayette grew its stake in the e-tail group to 100%. In 2021, according to Le Figaro, La Redoute generated a revenue of €1.2 billion, including its marketplace business.

The company, which unveiled a new visual identity last autumn, said that in 2022 it generated more than 35% of its revenue outside France, notably in Belgium, the UK and Spain. It has also recently announced the opening of a new subsidiary in Italy, with offices in Milan.
