M&S receives PETA award for new vegan-friendly ranges

Published
Jan 18, 2019

Marks & Spencer has been recognised with PETA’s first Vegan-Friendly High-Street Retailer Award for its latest efforts to provide cruelty-free fashion and food products.

The new vegan shoe range launching at the retailer this month includes more than 350 styles - M&S

This week, the department store chain announced the progressive launch of an extensive vegan footwear collection including more than 350 shoes, trainers and slippers for men and women.

Leather and suede-free accessories such as bags and wallets complete the fashion collection, reflecting a growing consumer demand for sustainable and animal-friendly products.

Customers can identify the footwear and accessories collection with the M&S ‘vegan’ logo, which also classifies the retailer’s vegan beauty and food offer.

Other efforts highlighted by PETA included M&S’s popular cashmilon wool-free knitwear range and the launch of new plant-based food range.

"From its fresh, ready-made vegan fare to its stylish animal-free accessories, Marks & Spencer is ticking all the boxes when it comes to ethical food and fashion," PETA director of corporate projects, Yvonne Taylor, said in a statement.

"PETA is recognising this iconic high-street retailer for keeping step with the burgeoning demand for animal-friendly options and for helping to move Britain in a kinder and more sustainable direction with its easily identifiable 'vegan' labelling."
