Movado adds Maya Peterson to board

Watchmaker Movado Group on Wednesday announced the appointment of Maya Peterson to its board of directors, effective February 1.

The Paramus, New Jersey-based company said all current board members would remain in their roles, with Peterson's appointment taking its board number to eight.

Peterson currently serves as vice president, insights and strategy at Universal Music Group for brands. Additionally, she serves as a senior advisor to Influence Change, a nonpartisan organization focused on voter justice. Previously, Peterson has held senior marketing positions at ViacomCBS and several other consumer products and services companies.

Her appointment is expected to bring extensive leadership, creative strategy and marketing experience to the Movado Group board.

“[Peterson] is a proven leader with 20 years of experience working with leading consumer companies and serving in various creative, marketing, and consumer insight roles," said chairman and chief executive officer, Movado Group, Efraim Grinberg.

"We look forward to adding Maya’s expertise to our board, as we execute our strategy to drive sustainable long-term growth. Today’s announcement reinforces our commitment to maintaining a highly accomplished and engaged board."

Movado Group is a U.S. watchmaker company that manufactures its own watch brands, including its namesake Movado brand, and Concord and Ebel.

In addition, Movado also manufactures and distributes watches on behalf popular fashion and accessories brands including Coach, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, MVMT, Olivia Burton, Tommy Hilfiger and Scuderia Ferrari

Most recently, Movado inked a deal with U.S. icon Calvin Klein for the manufacture and distribution of the apparel and underwear brand's watches line.
