Nike x Ambush reveal upcoming capsule collection

Published

After prolonged anticipation, the Nike x Ambush capsule collection, a collaborative work between Nike and Ambush designer Yoon Ahn, has made its campaign debut, with the collection itself slated to launch in December.

The collection is imbued with the Tokyo-esque aesthetic of Ambush, and includes two coats, a reversible track jacket in fleece and metallic foil ripstop, and a faux fur jacket, as well as a bodysuit, crop top and fleece pant. Colors are in a cool range of white, black, and metallic gold and silver, as well as a pale jade green for the capsule's faux fur piece.

To the satisfaction of sneakerheads, the collection will also include Yoon's updated take on the Nike Air Max 180, which the designer mixed up with style elements from the rare Nike Air Zoom Flight. The final sneaker's zip-up feature, cool color palette and snug fit combine to evoke a space-age vibe.

In fact, the capsule is more of a high-fashion take on athleisure, with designs made to accommodate a modern, jet-set lifestyle. Each piece is meant to be equally suitable as active daywear, work attire, or a chic athletic look fit for a night out.

"When you live a busy lifestyle, the last thing you want is to think about how your clothes are uncomfortable or not functional," Yoon said in a post shared on Nike News. "The new lifestyle that a lot of us live is not so fragmented [...] before, how you dressed in the morning wasn't carried into nighttime. Now we move through space and time more fluidly."

Beginning as a jewelry designer, Yoon created Ambush with her husband, rapper Verbal, in 2008, showing the label's first ready-to-wear collection in 2016. On top of operating her own label, Yoon currently works as the director of jewelry for Dior Men.

The Nike x Ambush apparel collection will drop on December 6, while the Nike x Ambush Air Max 180 will be available in spring 2019.
