Paris : Galeris Lafayette to open largest shoe shopping site in the world

Published
May 26, 2009

Bye bye ‘Espace VO’, hello shoes! FashionMag.com reported, back in December, that the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann would be opening a section entirely dedicated to shoes, and now more details have come to light. The 3000 m² installation will be inaugurated in July and will be the biggest in the world.

“The Galeries Lafayettes are celebrating women’s shoes on the Boulevard Haussmann, in the biggest installation in the world”. That is how the department store is presenting the upcoming opening, which should send shoe-lovers all over France, and further afield, into raptures.

No less than 3000 m² on a single level (level -1) will welcome one hundred and fifty brands, including seventy five exclusively. The site itself was imagined as an ultra-feminine dressing room and was designed and created by the Galeries Lafayette alongside the architect Patrick Jouin. The icing on the cake, the department store will be offering what it calls the “eleven pleasures shopping”… you can find out what they are in July!
