Première Vision Paris to be staged in digital format

In July, the management of Première Vision Paris took a firm stand: despite the uncertainty about the global health situation for the coming autumn, the next edition of the textile sourcing show would go ahead in mid-September at the Paris-Nord Villepinte exhibition centre.

Curated insights, such as the Trend Forum, will be available online this season at PV Paris - Première Vision Paris

But the pandemic's evolution in France has changed the rules. “We are convinced that the economic recovery must be bolstered, and that it is our role to make an effort in this sense. But we won't go against the law,” said a disappointed Gilles Lasbordes, general manager of Première Vision. “During the summer, the [French] Prime Minister announced that major events would be prohibited until the end of October, given the spike in Covid-19 cases. A decree was recently published to this effect. Our next show will therefore be entirely digital,” he added.

Holding events gathering together more than 5,000 people is still forbidden in France, preventing major international trade shows from being staged in the country. Besides, the widespread rise of Covid-19 cases in Europe, with for example Berlin imposing a quarantine on people coming from Paris, is making business travel in the region even more complex.

To connect with international buyers unable to travel to Paris, and to provide answers for them, Première Vision did intend to develop online solutions for exhibitors and buyers. “We are now planning to deploy digital versions of the majority of the services we offer, especially for those who are travelling from outside the Schengen area,” said Lasbordes. “In the last few weeks, we have photographed all the collections exhibitors have sent to us, and we’ve also developed a series of digital formats, especially for our information services. All our exhibitors are featured on the [show’s] site, and their presentation pages have been redesigned, giving the possibility of booking appointments and calling exhibitors. It’s a response to our business going digital,” he added.

The digital version of PV Paris will be held on September 15-16 and will feature conferences, presentations and networking opportunities. Enough for exhibitors and buyers to stay connected until the next edition in 2021. Not all physical shows in France have been cancelled however. Première Vision Made in France will go ahead at the Carreau du Temple in Paris on September 1-2, showcasing the products of garment manufacturers and finishers, accessories suppliers, and knitwear and fabric producers operating in France.
