Primark's beauty line receives cruelty-free certification

Published
Jul 11, 2018

Primark has taken a step forward in its sustainability strategy by announcing on Wednesday that its own-brand cosmetics have been awarded the coveted Leaping Bunny status by Cruelty Free International.

Primark

“From now on, the entire Primark PS range including make-up, skincare and haircare products feature the Leaping Bunny logo, a visible reminder that cosmetics at Primark are officially cruelty free,” said a Primark spokesperson.

Cruelty Free International is one of the world’s most respected animal protection organisations, widely regarded as an authority on animal testing issues. The certification programme has certified over 2,500 products and 7,000 individual ingredients since it was first established in the 1990s.

Its Leaping Bunny logo essentially guarantees that neither the product nor any ingredient it contains have been tested on animals.

“Having confidence in the cosmetics you choose is an important part of looking and feeling good, whatever your age, style or budget. It’s the reason customers choose Primark. This important recognition is part of our commitment to our customers that products produced on our behalf are made with care for people, animals and for the environment,” Primark said.

The fast-fashion retailer first launched own-label cosmetics in 2009 with a range of mascaras and lip glosses, and introduced the PS beauty brand in 2014.
