Thinx names digital media expert Maria Molland Selby CEO

Published
Jul 29, 2017

Underwear company Thinx announced on Friday the appointment of Maria Molland Selby as Chief Executive Officer, effective July 31, 2017.

Thinx

Selby brings 21 years of experience in e-commerce development and management, digital media and technology to Thinx. She graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, earned her MBA at Harvard Business School and held leadership roles at Thomson Reuters, Dow Jones, Yahoo!, Walt Disney Internet Group, Fab.com and Splacer.

"In just a few years, I've watched Thinx and Icon change the conversation around menstruation and incontinence, and empower people from all walks of life with their revolutionary products and ideas," said Selby. "I'm tremendously excited to join such a talented group of people as we continue to drive global education and expand resources around menstruation and incontinence."

Named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2017, Thinx produces period-proof underwear that breaks taboos about menstruation and reproductive health. Founded by Antonia Saint Dunbar, Miki Agrawal and Radha Agrawal in 2011, the New York City-based feminine hygiene company grabbed attention in Manhattan and Brooklyn for its witty subway advertisements that celebrated female beauty.

In addition to being honored by Fast Company, Thinx was recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the 100 Most Brilliant Companies of 2016, and by Time Magazine as one of the Top 25 Inventions of 2015.

As CEO, Selby will focus on building the company’s global presence, driving its omni-channel strategy, and leading the implementation of new company policies and processes. In addition, Selby will be tasked with elevating Thinx and the patented Icon underwear as forces in the menstruation and incontinence industries.
