Umbro taps Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock for Umbro Projects sub-brand

British sports brand Umbro is putting the spotlight on its Umbro Projects sub-brand in its latest Spring/Summer 2019 campaign starring Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

Launching on 15 March across the brand’s digital platforms, the campaign presents a summer collection inspired by Miami's South Beach Skate culture and Umbro’s archive of 90s football jerseys.

The campaign sees Umbro move away from its football heritage to tap into the athleisure trend with a range of high-neck crop tops, oversized t-shirt dresses, and palazzo bottoms, combined with high heels and over the knee boots for a streetwear look.

“I'm so proud to be partnering with Umbro,” Leigh-Anne Pinnock said about the collaboration. A member of one of the world’s leading girl bands, she has become an ambassador for female fashion.

“Sports Luxe is a massive part of my style and I love this collection because it is so versatile. It's filled with killer pieces that you can wear in so many different ways. Perfect for working out and getting active but then also whip on a pair of heels and you've got a great night out look. I can't wait to see people rocking it this season,” she commented.

Founded in 1924, Umbro has a deep association with the football world, supplying football kits and boots to many teams over the years. The Manchester-based brand was owned by Nike until 2012, when it was acquired by US brand management company Iconix in a $225m deal.
