Viva Technology, the major new technologies event held in Paris from May 24 to 26, said it attracted more than 100,000 visitors for this edition - which was in part open to the public - representing a 47% increase compared to 2017, which saw 68,000 people walk through its doors.

Robots were the focus of the this edition - Hease Robotics

Co-organised by Publics Groupe and Les Echos, the tradeshow said that 125 nationalities were represented this year, gathering together more than 1,000 businesses, start-ups, incubators and exhibitor accelerators. The latest edition took on artificial intelligence and robots as its central theme, and offered up a number of technologies that look to be of service in the future of retail.

The third edition of the tradeshow also confirmed Viva Technology's place on the political calendar, as it looks to become the technical version of the Salon de l'Agriculture in France. Other than the French president, the event also welcomed a dozen ministers and secretaries of state, not forgetting the mayor of Paris and regional representatives from Île-de-France, Center-Val de Loire and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, as well as the Greater Paris area.

As for company directors, CEOs and managers from Facebook, IBM, Microsoft, Uber, Cisco, SAP, Slack, Orange, Engie, Thales, Michelin and L’Oréal were in attendance.

They joined LVMH, with Bernard Arnault seeing the event as an opportunity to award the LVMH Innovation Award to French one-click payment solution firm, Oyst.

The fourth edition of Viva Technology will take place May 16 - 18, 2019.
