Wearable X launches bluetooth-enabled yoga pants

Published
Jun 1, 2017

Fashion and wearable technology have reached a new union in yoga with the launch of Wearable X's Bluetooth enabled Nadi X yoga pants.

Nadi X pant - Wearable X

The $300 Nadi X yoga pants contain bluetooth-enabled sensors designed to improve the yogi's form and overall practice by delivering real time feedback about alignment and positioning.

From a practical standpoint, a small battery in the Nadi X pant clips behind the wearer's upper left knee to fuel the sensors. Sensors are located under inconspicuous neoprene padding at the lower back, knees and ankles to collect comprehensive data on the wearer's alignment.

As the wearer goes through their practice, the sensors will vibrate if an adjustment needs to be made. The intensity of the vibration alerts the wearer to make adjustments to get deeper into the pose with proper alignment.

Wearable X founder Billie Whitehouse developed the idea through her own practice. She admits she is not an expert at yoga and that she "was always that girl in yoga class hoping to be adjusted, but the instructor can never get around to everyone.”

Whitehouse continued, "Yoga is very much about raising your vibration" thus making the delivery of information particularly appropriate for the use of the pant.

Over 50 yoga instructors collaborated with startup Wearable X over the past two years to develop the pants.

The launch edition is synched to an app that contains data for 30 popular yoga poses including downward dog and the warrior series. The data was collected from the practices of 50 people of varying shapes and sizes. The app contains playlists as well to deliver a unique and personalized yoga experience.

The Nadi X is designed to enhance all levels of practice from beginner to guru. It is only available on Wearable X's website and will begin shipping August 2017. It retails for $299.

Wearable X is already looking towards its next product, a smart sports bra that will be linked to a meditation app.
